Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that holding protest demonstrations or sit-ins are in no way in the country's interest when it is stabilizing economically.
He expressed these views while addressing a youth gathering at Alhmra Hall and taking to media here on Wednesday. Chief Minister's Special Assistant on Health Hanif Patafi, Dr. Shafiq and others were also present.
Answering a question, the Governor said that Maulana Fazalur Rehman can better tell that what 'Amanat' (top secret) Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is holding. "Opposition is wasting nation's as well as its own time through protest movements as the government is not afraid of any protest," he said.
He said that water scarcity is fast increasing in the world, and effective practical steps are inevitable for water conservation. Talking to media, the Governor said that matters have been sorted out with the Q-League. "The MQM and Balochistan Awami Party are also strong allies of the government. People have mandated us to govern till 2023 therefore completing constitutional term is our constitutional and democratic right," he said.
To a question, he advised the opposition to play its democratic role in and out of the parliament. Pakistan cannot afford any sort of agitation at this point in time. It is responsibility of all of us that we play our role to strengthen and stabilize Pakistan, he said.
Earlier, addressing the function, the Governor said that strengthening of Pakistan's agriculture sector and maximum facilitation of farmers is indispensable to do away with economic challenges. Unfortunately, the past governments made mere promises with farmers and practically their performance was zero. "We need to work more efficiently to increase our agricultural yields," he said.
