Sindh Minister for Information and Labour Saeed Ghani has said that the people and government of Sindh highly value the sacrifices made by the

Sindh police to maintain the peace and security in the province.

Police personnel rendered immense sacrifices to maintain law and order throughout Sindh including Karachi, Saeed Ghani said on Thursday during a visit to the home of policeman Mohammed Irfan, who was shot dead by armed robbers in New Karachi.

He condoled with the father of martyred Mohammad Irfan and offered Fateha for the departed soul on the occasion. He said the entire nation was proud of the security personnel like martyred Mohammad Irfan. In that time of sorrow the Sindh government was with the family of Muhammad Irfan, he added.

The Provincial Minister for Information said that Sindh government would do its utmost in providing justice to the family of martyred Mohammad Irfan. He said the murderers of Mohammad Irfan would be brought to justice soon.

Talking about the replacement of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, he said everything was being done in accordance with the law.

Saeed Ghani clarified that during a meeting in December, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah talked to Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding the replacement of incumbent IGP, Sindh.

The Provincial Minister for Information said the Chief Minister informed the Premier about all the compelling reasons after which the Sindh government finally decided for the replacement of Syed Kaleem Imam.

He said there were all compelling reasons, which included continuous degradation in the performance of the police force in particular, after which the Sindh government decided to replace the incumbent IG Sindh. He said that according to the Crime Index, the situation of law and order further deteriorated across the province in 2019 than in 2018.

The Sindh Information Minister said the police's job was to protect the people and control the law and order, rather than holding press conferences and to give unreasonable statements.

Provincial Minister of Information said that during the incumbent IGP, Sindh's tenure, not only the number of people killed by the straight firing of Police personnel increased but on the other hand, people's confidence in the police force also decreased.

He said that in his recent press conference he had told all those compelling reasons in detail after which the Sindh cabinet decided to ask the federal government for the replacement of IGP, Sindh Syed Kaleem Imam.

Saeed Ghani further said he would just like to ask that when four inspector generals of Police could be replaced in such a short span of time in Punjab, and that had been happening in KP too, then why people criticized when it was done in Sindh.

He said it was the responsibility of the Sindh government to protect the lives of the people of their province, that was what it had been mandated to do, and whatever the government had to do for it, it would do so. There should not be different scales for testing performance of the government in all four provinces, the Sindh Information Minister added.
