The Karachi Port handled 72,450 tonnes of cargo comprising 66,882 tonnes of import cargo and 5,568 tonnes of export cargo including 2,142 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargos of 66,882 tonnes comprised of 21,082 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,800 tonnes of fertilizer and 42,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargos of 5,568 tonnes comprised of 5,443 tonnes of containerised cargo; 125 tonnes of bulk cargo and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,142 containers comprising of 1,809 containers of import and 333 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 253 of 20's and 559 of 40's loaded while 06 of 20's and 216 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 172 of 20's and 34 of 40's loaded containers while 01 of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were two ships namely Diyala and CSCL Sydney carrying containers sailed out to sea during the reported period. There was one vessel viz. Botany Bay carrying containers currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 109,716 tonnes comprising 109,549 tonnes of import cargo and 167 tonnes of export cargo including 3,140 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 109,549 tonnes includes 8,403 tonnes of LNG; 23,037 tonnes of coal; 3,240 tonnes of palm oil; 13,300 tonnes of canola; 1,909 tonnes of chemical; 2,659 tonnes of soyabean and 59,660 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 167 tonnes includes 167 tonnes of rice and nil tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,140 containers comprising exclusively import cargo was handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were two ships namely IVS Hayatika and Al Ghashmiya carrying coal and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely MSC Joanna and MSC Nova carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, rice, canola, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. Sun Excelsior, Captain Pegglizos, Nordic Baltic, Lanna Pegglizox, Happy Osprey, NH Siri, Chemroad Sirius and Chemroad Dita carrying soyabean, coal, rice, chemical, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Maersk Detroit, MSC Tomoko, Da Qing and Nordic Baltic carrying containers, general cargo and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely Maersk Detroit, MSC Tomoko and Da Qing carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely MOL Endeavour carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
