Prices of essential food commodities, including vegetable, live chicken/meat, sugar, flour and others have slightly decreased in local market, according to survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.

Live chicken/meat is being sold at Rs141 per kg against the price of Rs148 per kg, showing a decrease of Rs8 per kg in retail market, according to the survey. It noted the price of farm eggs are remained unchanged as available at Rs110-120 per dozen.

Cow meat is being sold at Rs400-450 per kg while mutton beef priced at Rs900-950 per kg in local market. Fresh milk is being sold at Rs110-120 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs80 per litre, while yogurt was available at Rs120 per kg against the official fixed price of Rs90 per kg.

Tomato prices have gone down at Rs140-150 per kg which was selling at Rs200-250 per kg in the previous week. Similarly, onion is being sold at Rs70 per kg as compared to price of Rs90 per kg in preceding week.

However, prices of ginger and garlic were remained unchanged in local market as available within range of Rs400 and Rs300-350 per kg respectively. Green chili is being sold at Rs250-300 per kg. Carrots are being sold at Rs40 per kg against the price of Rs50 per kg in the previous week. A bundle of radish was available at Rs20. Cucumber is being sold at Rs40 per kg against the Rs50 per kg.

Peas are being sold at Rs80 per kg against the price of Rs100-120 per kg in the last week, capsicum at Rs150 per kg, bitter gourd (karela) at Rs120 per kg, Arvi at Rs100 per kg. Cabbage was available at Rs50 per kg, cauliflower at Rs60 per kg against the price of Rs70 per kg.

Apple, long and round gourds are being sold within range of Rs50-60 and Rs70 per kg. Bringle is being sold at Rs50-60 per kg.

Ladyfinger is being sold at Rs100 against the price of Rs120 [per kg] in local market. Red potato is being available at Rs70-80 per kg, while others are being sold within range of Rs40-50 per kg in retail market. Turnip is being sold at Rs50-60 per kg.

It was witnessed the prices of flour has decreased in local market as 20-kg bag is being available at Rs960-1000 which was being sold at Rs1050-1100 per 20-kg bag in the previous week. Similarly, price of 85-kg bag also gone down at Rs4000, which was selling Rs4500-4700 in local market.

Fruits are staple food, which is also completely out from purchasing power of common due to high prices. Apple is being sold at Rs100-120 and Rs150 per kg, guava at Rs80-100 per kg, pomegranate at Rs150-200 per kg, persimmon at Rs80-100 per kg, grapes at Rs150-200 per kg, banana at Rs40-50 and Rs70-80 per dozen.

Gram flour (baisen) was being sold at Rs100-120 per kg in local market, while sugar is being sold at Rs75 per kg against the price of Rs73 per kg in the previous week.

No change was witnessed in prices of food grains in local market, the survey noticed. It said that Dal mash is available at Rs210 per kg, dal masoor at Rs120 per kg, Dhoti dal was priced at Rs160 per kg, dal chilka (green) was available at Rs160 per kg, while dal chilka (black) is being sold at Rs165 per kg in retail market.

Rs20 per kg increase was also witnessed in price of moonge as available at Rs160 per kg against the price of Rs140 per kg. Dal channa is being sold at Rs160 per kg against the price of Rs140 per kg, the survey witnessed.

Red bean (Tajikistan) is being sold at Rs170 per kg which was selling at Rs160 per kg in the previous week, while red bean (Chinese) was available at Rs180 per kg against the rate of Rs160 pre kg in the retail market.

White lobiya is being sold at Rs140-150 per kg. Big-size white channa priced at Rs160 per kg while small-size white channa available at Rs140 per kg in retail market.
