  • Pakistan started off well after winning the toss and elected to bat first against Australia.
  • Mohammad Rizwan fell to a controversial no-ball decision of Pat Cummins on 37.

Pakistan in their first innings were all out for 240 runs at stumps today (Thursday) in the first test of two match series, ICC World Test Championship at Brisbane against Australia.

The visitors started off well after Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first, with both opening batsman skipper Azhar Ali and Shan Masood starting off cautiously against the mighty Aussies bowling line.

The opening stand was finally broken in the 33rd over as Pakistan lost back-to-back wickets on 75 runs, after Shan was the first to be dismissed on 27 off Pat Cummins' delivery. Skipper Azhar Ali soon followed after he became a victim of Josh Hazlewood on 39.

The batting line crumbled as the openers departed, after Aussies bowling line struck thrice and Haris Sohail got caught and bowled off Mitchell Starc delivery on 1. Hazlewood picked the prized scalp of Pakistan’s premier batsman Babar Azam, who got caught by Burns on 1.

Iftikhar Ahmed too departed quickly without disturbing the scoreboard much, after he fell to Nathan Lyon on 7, as Pakistan lost half of their batting line before reaching the three figures.

Wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan provided some resistance and with Asad Shafiq on the other side. Unfortunately, for Rizwan, who was looking very good, fell to a controversial no-ball decision of Pat Cummins, who got lucky with Rizwan's wicket with the third umpire ruling it wasn't a no-ball even though replays appeared to show there was nothing behind the line.

Rizwan played a polished knock of 37 off 34 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries.
