Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has decided to convene an all-party conference today (Monday) of the opposition political parties to chalk out future course of action jointly against the PTI government, as government has plainly rejected the two key demands - resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and early elections without the supervision of army.
As the two-day deadline given to the government by JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expired on Sunday night, the JUI-F held its central executive committee meeting which decided to give an extension in the deadline and leave the final decision of the future course of action on the opposition parties APC if the government continues refusing acceptance of the demands.
The APC, according the JUI-F sources, will now decide about the future strategy of the anti-government movement, adding that the coordination and contacts were underway among the members of the Rahbar Committee.
They said that the JUI-F chief expressed dissatisfaction over the coordination of the Rahbar Committee and asked its convener Akram Khan Durrani that the opposition parties which are part of the protest movement should clearly explain their positions as to whether they would be ready to become part of the future decisions of the anti-government movement, especially about taking the protest camp to D-Chowk or not.
They said that meeting also discussed various options, besides deciding to again hold meeting of the JUI-F executive committee meeting today (Monday).
The meeting also discussed plan-B of Azad march which includes Islamabad lockdown, taking the protest to D-Chowk, countrywide wheel jam and shutter down protest and lockdown at provincial and district level.
On the other hand the contacts between the government negotiation team led by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak continued all the day with Akram Khan Durrani, convener of the Rahbar Committee, but all in vain as the opposition remained stick to its stance on the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan and early polls.
The sources further said that Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani also held a telephonic contact with Abdul Ghafoor Haidery and desired to meet the JUI-F chief at the protest venue if he is not ready for the meeting at his residence.
However, they said that Sanjrani was conveyed that if he could talk over the Prime Minister's resignation with the Maulana then he is welcomed otherwise, the JUI-F would not be meeting.
Speaking at the government negotiation committee meeting, sources said that Sanjrani said that the standoff should be resolved through dialogue if the opposition is ready to continue the talks.
They said that Pervez Khattak was also of the opinion that the government is ready to resolve the issues through dialogue. However, he also made it clear that the law enforcement agencies were also ready to deal with those who would take the law in their hands.
In a bid to woo Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Chaudhry brothers also stepped in on Sunday and desired to hold meeting with the JUI-F chief. Sources said that the JUI-F chief expressed his willingness to meet PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Speaker Punjab Assembly Parvaiz Elahi today (Monday).
Sources said that, Shujaat will reach Islamabad today (Monday) for meeting with JUI-F chief to discuses the political situation emerged in the wake of Azadi March.
