The Karachi Port handled 159,617 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,853 tonnes of import cargo and 51,764 tonnes of export cargo including 5,280 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargos of 107,853 tonnes comprised of 62,881 tonnes of containerised cargo; 17,342 tonnes of bulk cargo and 27,630 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 51,764 tonnes comprised of 23,198 tonnes of containerised cargo; 25,366 tonnes of bulk cargo and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 5,280 containers comprising of 4,060 containers import and 1,220 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,407 of 20's and 1,326 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 812 of 20's and 92 of 40's loaded containers while 24 of 20's and 100 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Athenian, MT Karachi and Golden Denise carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were three vessels carrying containers and oil tanker respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 163,559 tonnes comprising 127,516 tonnes of import cargo and 36,043 tonnes of export cargo including 4,043 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 127,516 tonnes includes 37,760 tonnes of coal; 21,000 tonnes of palm oil; 18,000 tonnes of soyabean; 9,982 tonnes of chemical and 40,774 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,043 tonnes includes 36,043 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,043 containers comprising of 2,146 containers import and 1,897 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely Gulf Mist carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely CMA CGM Titus, Luson, Venture Goal and Asia Liberty carrying containers, coal and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

There is one ship namely Smiley Lady carrying containers expected to sail at night hours.

A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven vessels viz. Jeppensen Maersk, Emma, Shan Dong Fu Xin, Maran Gas Troy, Analipsi Lady, Skar Ven and Chemroad Nova carrying containers, general cargo, canola, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two ships viz. Maran Gas Troy and Analipsi Lady carrying LNG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Engro Elengy Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday.

There is one ship namely Milaharas Laffan carrying LNG due to arrive on Saturday.
