The government Thursday appointed Muhammad Azam Khan, district and sessions judge/judge special court (banking court), as Accountability Court-II judge.

According to a notification issued by Ministry of Law and Justice, in exercise of powers conferred by the Sections 5(g) and (h) of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999, the president of Pakistan has been pleased to appoint Muhammad Azam, district and sessions judge, as Accountability Court-II judge Islamabad on deputation basis for a period of three years in his own pay and scale.

It says that the appointment of the above judge shall be governed by the relevant provision of the NAB Ordinance 1999, and terms and conditions prescribed in the law.

The position fell vacant after the removal of former Accountability Court-II Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik following surfacing of the video scandal.

It is worth mentioning that position of accountability court-III judge is also lying vacant in the federal capital.
