‘Our country will rise before you’: PM vows to huge gathering of Pakistani expats in US

Promising that Pakistan will rise each year and prosper, Prime Minister Imran Khan told a huge gathering of Pakistan

Promising that Pakistan will rise each year and prosper, Prime Minister Imran Khan told a huge gathering of Pakistani expats at Capital One Arena in Washington DC on Monday that Naya Pakistan was being created in front of people’s eyes.

Addressing the overseas Pakistanis in US, PM said that a system of merit and leaders being answerable were the two main reasons that democracy had gone forward in the world and left monarchy behind. "A society that does not have merit, does not go forward," he said.

The prime minister said that the creation of a 'Naya Pakistan' is taking place. He further said that in Naya Pakistan, everyone is accountable and there could not be two separate laws for rich and poor. "Naya Pakistan is a place where every public office holder is accountable to the people," he added.

He maintained that he would not give an NRO and the opposition will have to return the money they stole from the country 'no matter what'. "You can get together, hold rallies, I myself will provide the containers," the premier told the opposition.

While referring to Nawaz Sharif, the PM said that he would remove the Sharif's TV and air conditioner from jail. "About 80 percent of Pakistan does not have an AC and 70 percent does not have a TV. Half the public would gladly go to jail if they got these facilities," the premier added.

The premier said that when years ago, he said that there was no military solution in Afghanistan, everyone had bashed him. "Today, God is great and everyone says that there is no military solution to the conflict," PM Khan added.

Concluding his speech, the prime minister said when he came into politics 23 years ago, he said that he will never bow his head in front of anyone to date except for Allah.  "I will never let my nation bow their head in front of anyone," he promised.
