If over-crowded places ever acted as a major hurdle for you to capture pictures, an artist has decided to use artificial intelligence (AI) to create a camera app that will remove people from the pictures.

As part of an art project, an artist Damjanski created a new app with the name ‘Bye Bye Camera’ for ‘post-human era’ that simply removes any people from the captured pictures and paints over their absence.

The Verge reported, as of for the ‘post-human’ part, according to Damjanski, the app was inspired by the threats posed to humans by climate change and the like. “We’re thinking about a future where humanity is no longer around,” he said. “One of the things I really enjoy is that the app takes out humans, but it keeps their shadows.”

The app works by using some of the AI tools including object detection ‘YOLO’ (You Only Look Once), which can immediately identify the outline of a person. Then with the help of another AI tool, the person is simply deleted from the taken picture and filled in with the background.

However, Bye Bye Camera is only available to be downloaded on iOS App Store for now that too for around $3, as per Tech Crunch.
