After foldable phones, Lenovo unveils world’s first foldable PC

Foldable phones are sure still intriguing, but became old news after many tech firms introduced their own versions

Foldable phones are sure still intriguing, but became old news after many tech firms introduced their own versions of the technology. However, Lenovo recently became the first one to show off a foldable PC prototype.

Lenovo announced what it calls the world’s first foldable PC, a technology that it has been developing for over three years. The prototype ThinkPad incorporates the same foldable technology seen on foldable phones, but on a larger scale.

The 13.3-inch device can fold up to about the size of a hardcover book, making it even smaller than a regular laptop. According to the firm, the device weighs as light as less than two pounds. Lenovo even plans on adding a stylus with its ThinkPad, while a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse can also be connected to be used as a 13-inch desktop computer, what the firm dubbed as All In One mode.

When folded, the device goes into a Laptop Mode where it sets up at a right angle so the bottom half of the device rests on the table where there is an onscreen keyboard, while the top half of the display faces the user, explained Engadget.

The idea behind the device is to take a full-sized PC and make it smaller, hence making it greatly portable, reported The Verge. However, since the device is still at a prototype stage, not much is known about the specs. Lenovo plans on launching a finished device in 2020.
