PM announces special package for Karachi of Rs162 billion
Prime Minister Imran Khan announced on Saturday a special package for Karachi of Rs162 billion for its development.
Addressing the media after chairing a meeting of the transformation committee in Karachi, the premier said the government with the collaboration of private public partnerships, has made a special package for the development of the port city.
He said under this package, there are 18 proposal, out of which 10 projects focus on the transportation, seven on water sewerage. PM Khan added that campaign to conserve water will be also be launched.
The prime minister said that Karachi faces major problems and without the development of it, the country cannot progress. "When you look at Karachi it looks like a concrete slab has been placed. There are no green areas here." He said Karachi is spreading and should be stopped. He added Karachi needs to stop spreading and instead construct high buildings.
Stressing out the need for working out a master plan of Karachi, the premier said there is a need to develop an interim plan in the meantime.
