Pakistan has called back on Monday its high commissioner in India for consultations, announced Foreign Office spokesperson.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal announced on his Twitter handle and wrote that the high commissioner has left New Delhi on Monday morning and is on his way back to the country. He added that the high commissioner has been called back for 'consultation'.

Tensions between the two neighboring countries have soared after the last week's attack on Indian soldiers in India occupied Kashmir’s Pulwama area. Over 40 Indian paramilitary troops were killed when a suicide bomber rammed his car into their bus. This attack was claimed by Jaish-e-Mohammad.

Since the attack, India has also withdrawn the Most Favoured Nation trade status given to Pakistan.
