The Council of Pakistan has denounces Indian government's decision to strip Indian occupied Kashmir of its status. The Council also urged The US to facilitate direct dialogue between Pakistan and India on Kashmir issue. The Council on Thursday asked the US State Department to take action on the Indian government as to Kashmir valley violations by Indian government. It said, "Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to use "every forum" to force New Delhi reverse its decision to strip Indian-administered Kashmir of its special status and split the Himalayan state".
The council said during a joint-session of parliament on August 6, Khan had pledged to raise the matter with heads of state and take the issue to the UN Security Council and the International Criminal Court.
The Indian side of Kashmir remained locked down on August 7 as India's lower house of parliament approved the revocation of Kashmir's special constitutional status that gave it significant autonomy from the rest of the country. The Council condemned India's moves to blackout telecoms in the region, restrictions on public movement, and the deployment of thousands of troops.-PR
