The PTI government is said to have identified economic stabilisation as its major goal. It is argued that economic stabilisation is not merely confined to a single individual sector of economy but embraces all its facts. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has been quoted as saying by media that the next budget to be presented on June 11 would focus on moving the economy towards stabilisation, reducing fiscal deficit through mobilisation of revenue and managing of current account deficit by reducing imports.
The question however is: Does this government has the required capacity and capability to achieve its goals? The situation requires the economic team of prime minister Imran Khan to devise and implement a slew of economic measures, however painful, in order to ensure economic stabilisation.
