The Accountability Court hearing fake bank accounts case on Monday extended physical remand of Nadeem Bhutto, in-charge of Naudero House Larkana, till May 20.
The officials of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) produced Nadeem before Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Arshad Malik on expiry of his remand. The NAB prosecutor informed the court that investigations are in progress and further physical remand of the accused is required. He requested the court to extend physical remand of Bhutto for 14 days.
He told the court that salaries of employees of Naudero House are paid from Nadeem's account, adding that money had been transferred to his account from the fake bank accounts.
During the previous hearing, the judge asked Nadeem to explain how Rs 7.4 million were transferred into his bank account. Nadeem replied that he was getting Rs 20,000 monthly salary and had no idea who deposited such a huge amount in his bank account.
The NAB prosecutor told the court that Bureau's combined investigation team (CIT) had summoned former President Asif Ali Zardari on May 9 but he (Zardari) requested for more time. The NAB has summoned the former president in the same case on May 16, he said.
The defence counsel objected to the NAB's request and prayed the court to reject its (NAB) request.
The NAB prosecutor further told the court that electricity and phone bills of Bhutto House are also in the name of accused Nadeem.
The NAB also produced another accused Adnan Javed before the court on expiry of his remand. The investigation officer (IO) of the case Ali Ahmed Abro told the court, "I had met an accident due to which I could not conduct investigation." He requested the court to grant him more time to investigate the accused person.
The court after hearing arguments of both the parties extended physical remand of Nadeem till May 20 and remanded Adnan Javed for two days into the NAB custody.
