Interior Minister Brigadier Ijaz Ahmed Shah (retd) has said the country is facing many challenges including security issues and economic challenges, but he is optimistic that the situation would improve soon. Shah said this while talking to media persons after visiting Police Lines Headquarters here on Monday.
"The country is going in the right direction; therefore, the situation would improve soon. Upcoming days would be better as compared to the past," he claimed. He said that currently the country was facing many challenges and the security was one of the main issues. "Terrorism exists in the country in different forms," he said, adding if a government had good intentions then no problem would leave unresolved.
To a question about the law and order in Sindh, he said "now it is a devolved subject under the 18th Amendment." Earlier, the minister visited Police Lines Headquarters while Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and deputy inspector general (DIG) security and operations were also present on the occasion. After receiving a guard of honour, the minister laid a floral wreath at Martyrs' Mausoleum.
He also visited the School of Investigation and inaugurated a state-of-the-art Firing Simulator there. He was also briefed about the e-learning facility established at the School of Information Technology. The minister was given a detailed presentation about the police performance during the last six months by the IGP and DIG (headquarters), which was attended by all senior officers of ICT Police.
