Opposition and Speaker, Aga Siraj Durrani on Wednesday clashed verbally, as the noisy protest again struck the Sindh Assembly proceedings. The opposition parties after PTI's Khurrum Sher Zaman Khan and the Speaker remonstrated, as Aga Siraj Durrani denied him to speak during the questions and answers session of the house. The verbal clash triggered a noisy protest by the opposition, which walked out while shouting.
Faraz Dero - The Sindh Auqaf, Religious Affairs, Zakat and Usher Minister however faced a difficult hour when the opposition pounded him with back to back critical questions. The treasury members extended efforts to help out the troubled minister to answer the opposition's questions.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi - the Opposition Leader, belonging to the PTI, showed objections to the minister's replies, saying that Dero's response is unsatisfactory. As one question by the GDA's Nusrat Sehar Abbasi about spending of Rs18 million on the reconstruction of different shrines in Sindh, left him perplexed, as she pointed out that despite the expenditure the rehabilitation work did not complete.
She said that the material used in the rehabilitation of shrines is substandard and alleged that the contracts are assigned on the basis of commission. She said that the opposition is aware of the inside issues of the government, calling the government's commission driven contracts as 'shameful'. However, latter, Speaker stopped her from a speech asking her place a question only, after she said cheating continues.
Replying to a question, Dero told the house that the construction of Jama Masjid in Sukkur has begun in June 2018 and will complete in June 2019. On a call attention notice, PTI's legislator, Shah Nawaz Jadoon invited the government's attention towards the heaps of garbage in Keamari, Sultanabad, and other nearby areas, saying that the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board has stopped lifting the trash.
Acknowledging the complaints, Sindh Local Government Minister, Saeed Ghani said that the issue of garbage heaps in District West of the city still persists, as the garbage lifting has been assigned to the DMC after the Board took action against the concerned company' for its contract violation. Now garbage lifting has been assigned to the DMC, he said.
Arif Mustafa Jatoi of the GDA, on a call attention notice, said that Ali Gul Khaskheli was appointed by the government at the Sindh Law Department despite he carries a stigma of raping a 'daughter of Sindh'. He called the alleged appointment as 'shameful'. However, Sindh Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mukesh Kumar Chawla told the house that the accused man was removed from the post after the government came to know about his crime.
The house also adopted a resolution which PPP's Arbab Lutfullah had tabled to pay tribute to former party chairperson, late Benazir Bhutto and the co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari for Thar coal project completion. "The House acknowledges the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for Thar Coal which has now been turned into reality by her party led by President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman of PPP, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari," according the resolution.
