Modi's victory in polls: PPP submits adjournment motion against PM's statement in Senate

The opposition Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Thursday submitted an adjournment motion in the Senate against a statement made by Prime Minister Imran Khan regarding Indian elections. It was submitted by PPP Chief Whip in Senate Sherry Rehman, who questioned the PM's interview to foreign media in which he was quoted as saying that there may be a better chance of peace talks with India and settle the Kashmir issue if Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wins the general election.
"Perhaps if the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party)....wins, some kind of settlement in Kashmir could be reached," Khan told a foreign TV channel. Khan was of the view that other India parties would be afraid of right-wing backlash in case of settlement on the Kashmir issue.
"Who was Modi's Yar (friend) now," Rehman asked, referring to his past criticism about the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government's policy of dialogue with India. "The PPP places an adjournment motion on the shocking statement made by the Prime Minister for an Indian candidate on the eve of an election. Who is Modi's Yaar now? After Modi's aggressive posture on Pakistan and policy of state terrorism in Kashmir, the entire nation is shaken by no clarification," she tweeted.
The PPP, in the adjournment, described Prime Minister Khan's remarks as both shocking and unprecedented. It demanded the House business should be adjourned to discuss the matter of urgent public importance.
