Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday submitted the record related to fake bank accounts and money-laundering case against former President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and others in an Accountability Court.
The FIA submitted the record in the court of Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir in the presence of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials who are dealing this case.
However, the registrar's office of Accountability Court raised objections and declared the record incomplete and returned it back to the officials of Bureau. The registrar's office directed the NAB to submit the record in complete and proper order before the court.
A banking court on March 15 ordered the transfer of the fake bank accounts and mega money laundering case to the Accountability Court, Islamabad.
The FIA produced documents related to chief financial officer of Omni Group Masood and others before the court.
The NAB's combined investigation team (CIT) on January 21 started investigation into the fake accounts and money laundering case against Zardari, Bilawal, Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali, Faryal Talpur and real estate tycoon Malik Riaz.
Meanwhile, the anti-graft court remanded two more suspects of the fake account case to the NAB for 10 days.
The NAB Rawalpindi arrested former director of Karachi Development Authority Najam Zaman and former director of Special Initiative Department Hassan Ali Memon at Karachi and later shifted them to Islamabad.
The officials of NAB produced the accused persons before Accountability Judge Mohammad Bashir. The court approved the physical remand of Zaman and Memon as well as directed the NAB to produce the suspects before court on March 28.
The court allowed the family members of both the accused to meet them at the NAB lockup. However, the court rejected the request of Zaman's wife to serve him homemade meals. The court asked Zaman's wife, "Who would be responsible if you give him food containing poison?"
