The Karachi Port handled 84,396 tonnes of cargo comprising 58,421 tonnes of import cargo and 25,975 tonnes of export cargo including 3,970 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargos of 58,421 tonnes comprised of 18,433 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,091 tonnes of bulk cargo and 38,897 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargos of 25,975 tonnes comprised of 19,651 tonnes of containerised cargo and 6,324 tonnes of rice. As many as 3,970 containers comprising of 1,411 containers import and 2,559 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 287 of 20's and 522 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 510 of 20's and 316 of 40's loaded containers while 227 of 20's and 595 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Kota Karim, Wieland, MR Pegasus, MT Shalamar and Evriali carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were five vessels viz. NaviosE Unison, Azalea, Forest Park, Palamar and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 205,630 tonnes comprising 144,324 tonnes of import cargo and 61,306 tonnes of export cargo including 3,494 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 144,324 tonnes includes 25,900 tonnes of diesel oil; 2,000 tonnes of palm oil; 4,642 tonnes of palm kernel; 14,932 tonnes of soyabean; 68,801 tonnes of coal; 11,500 tonnes of chemical and 16,549 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 61,306 tonnes includes 11,469 tonnes of cement and 49,837 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,494 containers comprising of 871 containers import and 2,623 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely CV MSC Asya and CV Conti Darwin carrying containers sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while four ships namely MV New Destiny, MV Windsor Adventure, MV Chemroad Lily and MT GL Cosmos carrying coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, soyabean, palm kernel, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen vessels viz. CV Tucapel, MV BBC Africa, MV Hong Yuan, MV Orange Harmony, MV Tegea, MV Port Macau, MV Valvovine, MV Ikan Pulass, MV Equinox Agnadoussa, MV Oslo Venture, MV Fila Joy, MV Hyde Park, MT Torm Sovereign, MT Silver Caitriona and MT Gao Cheng-2 respectively carrying containers, project cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Tucapel, CV Hansa America, MV Oslo Venture, MV Fila Joy and MV Hyde Park carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday. There was one ship namely CV Hansa America carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
