Jamaat-e-Islami chief Siraj-ul-Haq has said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to impose war on Pakistan to escape a defeat in election but he would only be inviting disaster for his country. He was addressing the media outside the Parliament House. He also addressed the officials of his party's media wing.
Haq said the main issue between Pakistan and India is Kashmir, adding that the Kashmiris are fighting the war of liberation from the Indian hold. He added that the Indian government and the establishment must realise the ground reality that the people of Kashmir want to join Pakistan.
He said in the present situation, it is wise for India to hold dialogue with Kashmiris and Pakistan. However, he said, if India imposes a war on the country, it would be wiped out from the world map. He said the 220 million people of Pakistan are standing shoulder to shoulder with their armed forces and they would teach a memorable lesson to the enemy.
The Jamaat-e-Islami chief said the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is the platform of Muslims. He said if the Indian foreign minister attends the OIC meeting, Pakistan should stage its boycott. He further said if the world community wants to stop a war between India and Pakistan; it should help resolve the Kashmir issue.
Haq impressed upon the government to convene a joint session of the Parliament and an all-parties conference (APC) for consultation on the prevailing situation at the wider level. He said that the nation is united against India but the ruling party is not taking the opposition into confidence on the present situation. Other leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami including Mian Muhammad Aslam, Qaisar Sharif, Shahid Shamsi and Shakil Turabi also attended the planning session.
