Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senator Ameer Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has demanded that the details of the government's deal with the International Monetary Fund be disclosed.
Reacting to the government's plan to get a fresh bailout package from IMF, Mushtaq Ahmad in a statement issued here on Tuesday, said that the government move will bring further inflation, which could directly affect poor masses of the country.
The JI leader said that the IMF can determine prices of essential items, authority to give subsidy or not, and setting budget targets after striking deal with Pakistani authorities about new financial assistance package, which called it as a direct bargaining on Pakistan sovereignty and freedom.
Ahmad said the country's sovereignty and autonomy had put on stake for attainment of foreign loans. He criticized those claiming to suicide is better than getting loan, now took U-turn on their stance.
The JI leader noticed that the prices of gas and electricity as well as petroleum commodities had been increased before reaching consensus between Pakistan and IMF on financial bailout package, which would further increase.
He said the Pakistani currency will further depreciate in wake of agreement with IMF and value of US dollar will be also increased in market.
The party leader said the Pakistan economy cannot grow until and unless abstaining from loan economy and adopting of self-reliance policy. He criticized the incumbent government from very first day had initiated program to run the country on loans and donations.
Ahmad said that the deficit in first seven months had proved that the PTI is incapable of running the country. He said there is lack of mutual contacts between ministries, adding no clear vision and policy to pull out the country from current quagmire situation.
He also criticized the government for imposition of direct taxes on poor masses of the country. He said the economy has been ruined by taking irrational and unjust policies of the incumbent government.
