The Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Legislative Business has approved a number of legislative amendments to expand the membership of Provincial Zakat Council (PZC) and accorded approval for regularization of contract employees of the Population Welfare Department in pursuance of its notification dated 1st March 2013.
Under an amendment, the Secretaries of Health, Industries and Higher Education Departments have been given the membership of Provincial Zakat Council. One more female member has been added to the Provincial Zakat Council while two more female members have been included in the District Zakat Council. Zakat & Usher Department secretary proposed to provide legal cover to the mode of payment of Zakat to deserving persons from crossed cheque to the 'Easy Paisa' method.
The cabinet committee gave approval to an amendment proposed by Labour secretary in the definition of Social Security Employee under Provincial Employees' Social Security Ordinance 1965.
A legislative amendment was also approved regarding the qualification experience and other relevant requirements (Criteria) for the Post of vice chancellor of general education & women universities along with mechanism for the constitution of search committee(s) and procedure to be followed by the search committee(s).
Punjab Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Basharat Raja chaired the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Cabinet on Legislative Business. It was also attended among others by Provincial Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Muhammad Taimoor Khan, Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Mumtaz Ahmad and representatives from different departments. The house accorded approval of minutes of its 5th meeting held on 2nd January 2019 while amendments were presented for consideration by 8 provincial departments.
