The two injured children of Sahiwal incident were treated properly at Lahore General Hospital on the directives Punjab Chief Minister. A medical board was also constituted to look after them. The Principal PGMI/Lahore General Hospital Prof Mohammad Tayyab and Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmud Salahuddin reached Emergency Department along with the team of doctors and nurses at 5.15 a.m. on Sunday prior to the arrival of said brother and sister.
During the treatment, head of Umair Khaleel, 10, was cleared from pieces of glasses as he had also sustained bullet injury in leg. Similarly, right hand of Muneeba, 6, was injured due to shattered glasses of the vehicle.
Principal PGMI, Prof Mohammad Tayyab said that both the children are in senses and their condition is satisfactory.
He announced to constitute a 6-member Medical Board to properly look after both the children. Prof of Surgery Dr Farooq Afzal will head the board while Professor of Psychiatry Dr Altaf Qadir and Assistant Professor of Surgery Dr Amna Javed, Head Peads Prof Agha Shabbir Ali, MS Dr Mahmud Salahuddin and Director Emergency Dr Rana Mohammad Shafique will be members of this high level board.
Both injured brother and sister have been shifted into private room of Punjab Institute of Neuro-Sciences Unit-II (LGH) and teams of doctors and nurses have been constituted to ensure round the clock treatment of both these children. Director Emergency Dr Rana Mohammad Shafique will be overall incharge of it.
Prof Tayyab also talked to uncles of the children namely Naeem and Imran and assured them that as per the directives of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, they would leave no stone unturned to look after these injured children.
He said that undoubtedly it was a tragic incident and in this time of test and problem we all are with the grieved family and would utilise all our efforts to minimise their grief. He also met both the children Umair and Muneeba and inquired after their health.
