Talamsas and Raymisas, Turkish Railways state companies, will join hands with the Pakistan Railways for transfer of technology. This was decided during a meeting held between PR officials and the Turkish delegation consisting of eight members at Railways Headquarters on the second day of their five-day visit to Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pakistan Railways intends to expand its manufacturing capacity by joining hands with technologically-advanced countries.
After further meetings and due considerations, the experts of both the countries shall share their recommendations for transfer of technology in the light of which a comprehensive plan would be devised regarding various projects on joint ventures and built operate and transfer(BOT) basis.
Chief Executive Officer Aftab Akbar briefed the delegation on operations of Pakistan Railways while Avci Hayri, Director General of Talamsas, established as a maintenance and repair workshop in 1894, gave a briefing on the company's technical developments to Pakistani officials besides its manufactured electric, diesel, locomotive and wagon, bogie, traction motor etc.
Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways said that the PR believed that optimum results could be achieved by touching upon affairs of common interests. He added that technical collaboration with Turkey would be preferred over procurement of locomotives. Currently, two factories of Pakistan Railways are operational in Risalpur and Islamabad for maintenance and repair services, he further added.
Muhammad Aftab Akbar, Chief Executive Office Pakistan Railways, Muhammad Tahir, General Manager M&S, Zubair Shafi Ghauri, Additional General Manager Traffic, Ejaz Ejaz Burero, Additional General Manager Mechanical, Nisar Memon, Chief Engineer Open Line, along with other senior officials attended the meeting.
