Punjab Governor Chaudhary Mohammad Sarwar and Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar called on President Dr Arif Alvi at the Governor's House on Friday and discussed important political affairs and administrative matters of the province.
The governor discussed important matters pertaining to development strategy of the province of Punjab. The chief minister apprised the president about the performance of provincial government. He also shared details regarding steps taken by the provincial government for providing relief to the people in new Pakistan, the sources.
Later, Waleed Iqbal and Seemi Aizdi of the Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf who have won Senate seats in the by-election also met the president. Dr Arif Alvi felicitated both the PTI senators-elect and expressed the hope that they would play their due role in the upper house of parliament.
Earlier, President Dr Arif Alvi, who arrived on Friday on a two-day visit refused to step outside the airport until the protocol given to him was withdrawn. As many as 32 vehicles had reached the airport to receive the President with protocol. However, he asked the authorities to withdraw them.
"My continuous struggle to keep security but reduce protocol that inconveniences people, I am at Lahore airport and there are 32 cars to escort me waiting outside. Will wait until they are sent away before I move out," Dr Alvi tweeted. Later, the president reached the Governor House with just five cars.
