ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Communications Murad Saeed on Wednesday said that it is among our responsibilities to protect the money of the nation and an amount of Rs.460 million has been recovered from a single project of the Ministry of Communications following this spirit.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday, the minister said that special audit has been conducted into various projects of his Ministry during two months and recovery would be ensured from those who embezzled the national exchequer.
The minister said that details of various projects and forensic audit would be shared and anyone involved in corruption would not be spared. Murad Saeed told the House that seven persons approached him for a deal and one amongst them is sitting in this House.
“ It is my promise with the Almighty Allah and the nation that utmost efforts would be made to root out the menace of corruption,” the minister added.
He said that cut was made by the Finance Ministry on the various projects in his Ministry because actual cost of these projects was raised for 400 t 500 percent.
The minister said that Ashiana scam, embezzlement in Multan Metro as well as Rawalpindi metro and Saaf Pani unearthed in previous tenure and those involved in these cases should not be spared.
He said that present government is working for uplift of laborers and down trodden segments of the society.
Shelter homes have been provided to the poor while employment opportunities are being ensured for the youth, he added.
