The Punjab Assembly on Monday unanimously adopted a resolution slamming Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris and paying tributes the martyred youth. The resolution was moved by Opposition leader Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed. The House urged the federal government to raise the Kashmir issue at international forums including United Nations Security Council in more effective manner. The House also paid tributes to Kashmiri Shuhuda and renewed all out support to the Kashmiris in their just struggle that is bound to succeed.
Later Rasheed on a point of order asked the federal government to replace Chairman Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir as incumbent the chairman has failed to play his due role at international level. PML-N legislator Raheela Yayha Munawar said the Indian army is shedding blood of innocent Kashmiris. She said India cannot suppress the Kashmiris' struggle through use of force. She urged the international community to play their role to stop Indian atrocities on innocent Kashmiris including students.
Earlier, the House started its proceedings with Speaker Rana Mohammad Iqbal in the chair. Speaking on a point of order, Punjab Minister for Minorities and Human Rights Tahir Khalil Sindu said the government has launched a project titled 'Shehr-e-Khamoshan' for protection of graveyards in the province. He said all out measures will be taken to protect the places of worship of the minorities. No one will be allowed to capture the land of the churches and already occupied land will be recovered at all costs, he said, adding the government has no plan to take control of churches.
During the question answer session, the member of treasury benches Mian Tariq Mehmood said that farmers are running from pillar to post for getting tractors and solar tube wells. Replying to another question, Punjab Agriculture Minister Naeem Akhter Bhabba said the government has initiated various schemes for the welfare of farmers.
Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani said that the Punjab government has made record legislation during 100 days of the year. He said laws of public welfare were framed as the government's vision is to provide maximum relief to the masses. Later, the Speaker adjourned the House.
