Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has expressed its disappointment over the federal government's reply to its demands, which it made through a letter regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects and warned that if the KP was continuously ignored in CPEC projects, it would soon call a meeting of parliamentary secretaries to chalk out a future course of action in this regard.
Provincial Spokesman Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani while speaking at a news conference here on Monday said that Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Professor Ahsan Iqbal did respond to the KP chief minister's letter regarding the demands for various projects being carried out under CPEC. But, he termed the response unsatisfactory and incomplete.
He said the provincial government decided to again write a letter to federal government to convey its reservations on CPEC. He warned that if the federal government didn't accept their demands regarding CPEC, the government will call a meeting of parliamentary secretaries to decide the future course of the action in this regard.
Expressing serious resentment over the extension of Customs Act to Malakand division, the provincial spokesman said the federal government's step was sheer violation of agreement, made with the people of the division, at time of accession and asked the federal government to immediate withdraw it. He said the Provincial Apex Committee, during its meeting, raised the issue of non-customs paid vehicles, which were the main sources of criminal activities and took a decision to regulate unregistered vehicles by extending the Customs Act 1969 in the Malakand division.
Commenting on the Panama papers leaks, the provincial spokesman said the Icelandic prime minister had resigned following the accusations on his wife, levelled by Panama leaks. But the federal ministers are defending the prime minister and his family, he said, adding that the PTI is going to hold a grand rally on April 24 to commemorate its foundation day, wherein the party Chairman Imran Khan will make serious revelation and announcement.
