The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has announced a five-member committee of senior department officers to frame a provincial wildlife policy to protect the wildlife in the province. The committee is set to launch a report in a week. The announcement came from Director General Khalid Ayaz Khan who chaired a top-level meeting on Monday which also drew in all the headquarters officers.
Director Naeem Bhatti is named the committee convener while its members are Planning Deputy Director Mian Hafeez, his Rawalpindi and Lahore counterparts, Muhammad Anwar Usman and Anwar Hussain Gul, and Lahore Zoo Director Shafqat Ali. The committee, before formatting its recommendations, will study a federal wildlife policy and charters of member countries of the World Wildlife Forum to evolve its recommendations.
