A philanthropist has donated eight dialysis machines worth Rs 10 million to the Lahore General Hospital (LGH), taking the total number to 34 and making it the largest dialysis centre in the province. An event to mark the machine hand-over on Friday by the hospital's Patients Welfare Society to the administration also drew in Principal Professor Khalid Mahmood and the medical superintendent.
Professor Mahmood told his audience, "It is our obligatory duty to serve the humanity. Whereas doctors, nurses and paramedics are professionally serving the patients, the rich and philanthropists are also financially helping the deserving patients and the destitute." He also talked about the International Kidney Day being observed in March every year and the main cause of the kidney diseases.
