The Sindh government is planning to hand over Youth Center, constructed in the Khuhra Sports Complex here at the cost of Rs 50 million, to a private commercial organisation, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST). According to a report, during last rule, provincial government ordered construction of Youth Centers in Larkana, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas and Karachi for the benefit of the youth of the province and the work in this regard was completed two years ago in Larkana, but it has not yet been taken over by the department concerned despite completion.
Its possession is still with the contractor as the centre is being looked after by his private security guard. The building is double-storey having 500-seat capacity large hall and several rooms. The purpose of this center is to provide healthy facilities to the youth of Larkana with positive and constructive activities in the fields of educations, sports and making awareness about other beneficial works.
The building is lying non-utilised and is open for habitual land grabbers. It is learnt that the government has decided to hand it over to a private institution SZABIST which is running on commercial basis. It is further told that the Larkana Deputy Commissioner has been assigned the task who has started homework due to which unrest is widely felt among the youth of Larkana district.
People belonging to various walks of life have condemned this act and have demanded of the rulers to start the youth center without loss of time; otherwise, massive protests will be staged.
