Provincial Health Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that a comprehensive plan in collaboration with NGOs is being chalked out to save the lives of the people from expected heat wave that may affect Sindh in July. This he said stated while talking to a delegation here in his office on Friday. The Minister said that last year many people lost their lives due to severe and unexpected heat wave in Karachi. He pointed out that we are planning to tackle the situation this year if such a situation arises again.
The Minister said that special wards would be established in all public and private hospitals and arrangements would be made at main gates of the hospitals and at certain points in the mega city to provide first aid facilities to heat stroke affected patients. He added that students of the well reputed institutions and workers of NGOs will be requested to come forward to help out the Health Department to save the lives of the people.
Health minister said that he would also request to Minister Education to assign teachers in schools so that the heat stroke affected patients might get first aid facilities at nearest points and teachers might be trained for the purpose. He said that a mass awareness drive on the issue would also be launched so that the people might adopt precautionary measures. The Minister also asked the members of the delegation to submit the proposals as how to cope up with the situation.
