Bearish sentiments dominated the Lahore Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with shares losing amid selling pressure in select scrips. The LSE-25 index lost 22.30 points to 5,401.53 against 5,423.83 of Monday, while the trading turnover increased to 114,200 shares as compared with the previous volume of 90,800 shares.
The market did sustain mainly because of lacking interest on the part of investors who preferred offloading in the Sui Northern, Byco Petroleum, Pakcem Limited, Power Cement, Descon Chemicals, Bank of Punjab and Silk Bank. The companies such as the Indus Motors, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills and Pak Elektron did end up gaining following buyers' interest.
Out of 55 active issues, three companies gained and even declined, while 45 others stayed unchanged at their previous closing. The Indus Motors gained Rs 48.29, Gul Ahmed Textile Mills and Pak Elektron improved by Rs 1.95 and Rs 1.22. Those declining by 32 and 20 paisas were the Sui Northern lost 60-pasia while Byco Petroleum and Pakcem Limited. The Descon Chemicals, with trading of 35,000 shares, topped all, followed by the Sui Northern with 20,000.
