The Met Office has asked the farmers of cotton crop areas to prepare their field for next Rabi season and complete sowing on time. Growers should timely cultivate winter vegetables with a view to utilise present soil moisture fully. Farmers should also take precautionary measures to protect livestock from expected dry and cold weather in the next 10 days.
Farmers of rain-dependent areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab should complete cultivation of Rabi crops at the earliest. The soil moisture is very suitable for crops' growth following rains during the cold season. Normal wind pattern may prevail in most of the agricultural plains, besides nighttime temperatures to drop slightly by 1-2 degrees Celsius and days are likely to be slightly normal.
Widely dry weather is expected in Punjab with light to moderate rainfall in hilly areas. Dry weather is expected in most parts of Sindh. Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of Balochistan. Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with light to moderate rainfall with snowfall in scattered places including Hazara and Malakand divisions from December 15 to December 18.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, largely dry and cold weather is expected with light to moderate rain with snowfall in Gilgit and Skardu from December 15 to December 20. Cold and dry weather is expected in most of the parts of Kashmir with light rainfall with snowfall in Rawalakot, Muzzaffarabad and Kotli divisions from December 18 to December 20.
