Sindh Agriculture University of Tando Jam and Dalda Company have signed an agreement to conduct a research on palm oil in coastal areas of Sindh province. The research would be carried out within the different districts of Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and other districts in Sindh province, a statement issued by the university said here on Thursday.
On the behalf of the university, Registrar Hafeez Ullah Memon and Director HR Inam Bari on behalf of Dalda Company signed the agreement held at the campus of the university. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr Professor Mujeeb Saharai said that Agriculture of Sindh should get benefits from private sector and such benefit should be shared with growers especially in term of benefits per acre yield. Agriculture sector has vital role for boosting different sectors like food textiles and others, he added.
Palm oil industry has supported the economy of Malaysia and there is good atmosphere for palm oil sector in Sindh province, he said, adding the research would be encouraged by involving PhD students on this sector. Dalda Company is providing stipends to 2000 students, Director HR Dalda said this while speaking on the occasion. He said that the university should focus on this sector where the research on palm oil should be encouraged which would not only benefit the industry and the university but the whole economy of the country. He also suggested the Agriculture University of Faisalabad should encourage atmosphere of research on this topic. On the occasion, Professor Ismail Kunbhar said that such research would be beneficial for the university, private sector and local people of Sindh. Professors, teachers and experts were present on the occasion.
