The Dawood Foundation (TDF) and APWA (All Pakistan Women's Association) announced a collaborative programme through which students at APWA's schools in Karachi will be taught about environmental conservation. Representatives of TDF visited APWA's Liaquatabad campus on Monday to show the TDF nature series documentaries about the conservation issues at Pakistan's National Parks of Margalla Hills and Chitral , and to educate the students on how to adapt their lifestyles to be more eco-friendly.
TDF has been addressing the lack of knowledge about climate change in Pakistan through an expansive educational programme that includes visiting numerous private and public schools as well as engaging directly with people through float activation in over 130 cities. More than 52,000 people across multiple provinces have been reached through the campaign thus far.
Sabrina Dawood, CEO, TDF, said, "Pakistan being one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change has to take a proactive approach towards environmental degradation. That requires our people to have a good understanding of the issue, and for that purpose TDF has been making efforts to educate as many people as possible across Pakistan." The Foundation will be visiting other campuses of APWA in the near future, engaging over 800 underprivileged students in the process. TDF is making an effort to ensure that the campaign is inclusive in its approach and reaches people from all types of backgrounds, as Climate Change disproportionately impacts certain groups more such as women and impoverished people.-PR
