After years of struggle, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has finally been elected as the prime minister of Pakistan, after he bagged enough votes during elections at Parliament House on Friday.

The PTI chairman defeated Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and bagged 176 votes. The PML-N president gained 96 votes. Khan will be sworn-in as the prime minister tomorrow morning at the oath-taking, which will take place at President House.

The MNAs voted for their preferred candidates through the Second Schedule of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, 2007. Each member of the assembly voted by going to the lobby designated to their candidate.

The PTI emerged victorious in the general elections held on July 25. The party bagged 116 seats in the National Assembly and later reached the support of more than 50 percent members after alliance with independent candidates and other political parties.
