President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Major Mansoor Ahmad (Retd) has underscored the need of collective efforts for resolving the problems being faced the industry especially skilled labour. Business community was facing serious problems due to the non-availability of skilled and semi skilled workforce he said.
Mansoor said that Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) and other trade associations were enjoying most cordial relations that have been key to advocate the cause of business community to get maximum facilitation for it through joint strategy and positive approach.
Trade bodies would continue to remain hand in glove, to advocate and promote the cause of export industry of Sialkot and continue their efforts for overcoming the shortage of trained workforce for the larger national interest he said. Addressing the Annual General Meeting of PGMEA he said that it heartening to note that Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association was arranging courses for the youth to train them in different subjects including Cad Cam, Stitching of Shoes, Leather Garments, Gloves and Textile items, which are arranged at the Leather Products Development Institute governed by PGMEA.
It is most appreciative that students are given a lot of facilities whereas female trainees are provided transportation facilities to encourage and motivate them for completing their training and becoming the part of Sialkot's industry he said. Mansoor further said it is encouraging that the trainees were accommodated in the industry immediately to play important role in mitigating the problem of skills shortage, which has been quite disturbing factor in industrial performance affecting production badly.
The export industry of Sialkot is in dire need of trained manpower which the PGMEA is actively pursuing to facilitate industry through skills development and providing jobs to the youth to alleviate unemployment he said.
On this occasion SCCI President congratulated the newly elected Chairman Malik Sadaqat, office bearers and Executive Members of PGMEA and assures all possible support of the Sialkot Chamber to join in the best interest of the members and the business community.
