Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani Saturday said the government believes in gender equity and women's role as an active variable shaping a more democratic, equitable, and peaceful, stabilised and developed society. The PTI government is based on principles of equity and consistent rule of law, which includes women at the forefront of economic reconstruction activities and in the nation-building process.
Addressing as a chief guest in inaugural ceremony of Government Girls Home Economics College in Abbottabad, he said the PTI-led government is focusing on education sector and first time in the history of this province a sizeable budget has been allocated for the said sector. He said the government has allocated 1 Billion rupees in endowment fund for providing of scholarship to needy students in the colleges and universities. Keeping in view the importance of women education, age limit has been ended for females to get admission in any degree program in Universities, he added.
The minister said, that a women's lap is a child's first institution, the government is putting in every effort to counter the menace of terrorism, education is the key element to combat it through talented women, who are a multiplication influential factor in moulding their child's future.
He said, the government has established first women Commerce College in the province, meanwhile another one government girl's home economics college to be established in district Noshera, beside this Women University will be established in district Mardan soon. PTI-Led provincial government is taking steps on equal basis in all over the province, he added.
Earlier, the principle home economics college briefed the minister that the college has received 150 applications and after written test and scrutiny process 67 students have been enrolled in first opening session. The function was attended by Principle Home Economics College, Miss Gulrukh Afridi, and District vice Nazim Abbottabad, Shuja Ahmad, District Councillor, Malik Saeed Awan and large number of people from different sector of life.
