While appreciating the dedicated work and endeavours of FATA Reforms Commission (FRC) as well as his team of key officers, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said the common man feels a clear direction and his sense of greater responsibility at the lower level especially in public funding.
He noticed a clear resolve all-round to work for public welfare in Federal Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) which should not only continue what should be strengthening as we go along. He expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting on FATA Reforms Commission here at Governor's House, Peshawar on Friday. Besides, Chairman FRC Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, members of FRC, Mir Laiq Shah, Ms Mussarat Qadeem, Lieutenant General Syed Sabahat Hussain (Retd), Muhammad Aslam Kamboh (ACS FATA), Fida Muhammad Wazir (Chief Executive FDA), Atiq-ur-Rehman Wazir (Chairman Governor Inspection Team), all Secretaries FATA Secretariat, Syed Zahir ul Islam Shah (Secretary FRC), Ikramullah Khan (DG FDMA), Sajjad Khan (DG M&D FATA), Nawab Khan (Director Irrigation FATA), Raziq Muhammad Shinwari(Consultant Dev. FRC) and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.
The Governor reviewed implementation of FATA Reforms Commission report. He desired that results of implementation should be visible to the common man in FATA as earlier as possible shortest time. A number of FRC proposals regarding streamlining and improvement in FATA secretariat discussed and finalized with short timeline. The Governor also desired that improvement should start from his Governor Secretariat at Governor's House.
Meeting was informed that Levies Force of more than 11 thousands was being trained with the help of Army and FC. Also, retired officers from FC are being recruited to supervise and command Levies Force in each Agency.
For training in investigation, prosecution and intelligence training facilities of the police department are being used. A complete audit of equipment and weapons of Levi's Force was carried out, so that all items are accountable. To improve military and civil coordination, two apex bodies, working on a regular basis to review security matters, return and rehabilitation of TDPs. To improve the justice system at agency level, a detailed proposal was also discussed.
The amount of Rs 300 million has been allocated for FATA University and selection committee has been tasked for suitable head of this University, for early setting up and construction of university. In the current ADP, allocation for scholarship to tribal students has been enhanced to increase coverage and numbers of beneficiaries along with his existing schools in each agency are being upgraded under a planned program so that students have qualified teachers, libraries, laboratories and other education facilities in FATA, as they don't have to send their children to other areas for these facilities.
Governor urged speeding up the implementation by all officers and commission members and showed willingness to hold frequent meetings to monitor their progress. Next meeting on FRC is scheduled within a week in the best interest of tribal people.
