Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Minsk, Belarus on August 10, on the invitation of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Foreign Office disclosed this on Thursday. FO Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah at the weekly press beefing on Thursday said that this will be the first ever visit by any Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Republic of Belarus.
During the visit, the PM will hold delegation-level talks with the Belarusian President. He will also meet the Prime Minister of Belarus. The Chairman of the Council of Republic (Upper House) and the Chairman of the House of Representatives (Lower House) will also call on the Prime Minister. The PM will be conferred the title of Honorary Professor of the Belarus State University.
FO spokesman said that a number of important agreements/MoUs are expected to be signed during this visit and the PM is also expected to visit top Belarusian industrial units. He said that the PM will also participate in the Pakistan-Belarus Business and Investment Forum. Pakistani Mango and Film Festival will also be held during the PM visit. The PM's visit is taking place after the Belarusian President had visited Pakistan in May 2015, which is an indication of the common desire of the two countries to strengthen the existing close and friendly ties between Pakistan and Belarus, FO spokesman said.
