Three foreign airline companies have given schedule to start international flights while another six companies are negotiating to start their operation from Multan International AirPort, disclosed here by President of Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) Mian Iqbal Hassan.
He was talking to executive committee members of MCCI at an Iftar-dinner here on Wednesday. He said the objective of the meeting is to share with the joint efforts made by MCCI, district government and local political leadership to start international flights and development projects of Multan like Metro Bus project, Universities of Engineering & Technology, Agriculture, women, Kidney Centre.
He said that Fly Dubai has already started its operation from followed by Emirate Airlines from August Ist and Qatar Airways from August 2 while Arabian Airline is expected in September, 2015. Mian Iqbal Hassan said that Multan International airport would help in the export of mango, fresh vegetables and fruits and sufficient space would be available for te exporters of Multan and rest of South Punjab.
He was appreciative of Zahid Saleem Gondal DCO Multan who made painstaking and hectic deliberations. He was optimistic that that these airlines would get very encouraging response as regard passengers load which will definitely convince them to increase the number of weekly flights from Multan. Mian Iqbal Hassab also paid tribute to DCO who worked hard and played an instrumental role in establishing basic departments deemed necessary for the planned, systematic, sustained and scientific development of Multan which is swarming with population of 4 million.
He said that PHA, Solid Waste Management Company, Parking Company and TEPA have been established and now efforts are being made to strengthen these institutions enabling these to play their dynamic role in the overall development of the city of saints.
