Trucks, Buses' manufacturing rises by 13.63pc in 11 months

ISLAMABAD: Trucks and Buses' production in the country increased to 9,258 units in first 11 months of current fiscal year compared to the production of 8,147 units of trucks and buses during July-May (2016-17), showing an increase of 13.63 percent.

In May, 2018, the trucks and buses production however posted a decrease of 8.09 percent as it went down to 874 units from 951 units in May 2017, a latest data of Pakistan Automotive Manufacturing Association (PAMA) said.

Production of trucks posted an increase of 20.27 percent to 8,544 units in July-May (2017-18) compared to the production of 7,104 units during same period of last year.  During May 2018, the manufacturing of Trucks improved from 7,104 units in May 2017 to 808 units in same month of current year.

The breakup figures show that Hino trucks' production also increased by 34.9 percent to 3,690 units in the period under review against the production of 2,735 units of trucks in same period of the preceding fiscal year.

Production of Master trucks during July-May 2017-18 was recorded at 1,440 compared to that of 1,034 units during same period of the previous year, showing an increase of 39.26 percent.

Issuzu trucks' production also surged by 30.76 percent to 3,413 units in first 11 months of the current fiscal year against production of 2,610 units in same period of last year.

Meanwhile manufacturing of buses in the country witnessed a decline of 31.54 percent to 714 units in July-May 2017-18 from 1,043 units during same period of previous fiscal year.

On year-on-year basis the bus production increased from 32 units in May 2017 to 66 units in May 2018.

The production of Hino buses declined from 636 units in the correspondence period of the year 2016-17 current fiscal year to 300 units in same period of current year.

Master buses' production improved by 91.2 percent to 285 units in July-May (2017-18), from 149 units in same period of last year, while the production of Issuzu buses posted a decrease of 100 percent as it went down to 129 units fom 258 units in the corresponding period of the year 2016-17.
