The Sindh High Court on Tuesday summoned the reply of the provincial police chief, excise department and other concerned government departments over massive deaths by consuming toxic liquor in Karachi and Hyderabad. Rana Faizul Hassan, a social worker, in a petition filed in the SHC informed the court that over 50 people in Karachi and Hyderabad have been killed by consuming the toxic liquor in recent incidents.
The petitioner said the hazardous liquor was being sold under the patronage of the Sindh police department and government officials and sought the court action against the patrons of the deadly liquor business. The court issued notices to the IG Police of Sindh, provincial excise department and other concerned authorities seeking their reply over the matter.
