Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan on Monday claimed that he is aware of the amount of money that Asif Ali Zardari is spending on PPP's October 18 public rally in Karachi "People would be brought to the rally like sheep and goats," he said while addressing participants of his sit-in at Azadi Square.
He said that people come to PTI's rallies on their own as his party spends money only on audio system and preparation of the stage. "Asif Zardari, passion has no cost," he added. On Zardari's announcement to build a Bilawal House in Peshawar, the PTI chief said: "Let's have a contest and see whether Bilawal House is built in Peshawar first or a cancer hospital there."
Khan said that people in the PPP rally would be waiting to go back to their homes as soon as possible from the rally as "they are living like dead bodies." The PTI will give one month's time to everyone to declare their assets; failing which big fish will be arrested, he said, adding that graft cases are pending against both Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah. "PPP and PML-N are in cahoots with each other, through a deal with Khursheed Shah, a weak bureaucrat was appointed as National Accountability Bureau's head," he said.
"The duo of Sharif-Zardari monarchy and family-oriented politics will devastate our country's politics," he said, adding that both the families have been struggling to protect the status quo. Khan also urged the prime minister to delay his resignation; so that he may form a better team for a 'Naya Pakistan'. Politicians can win elections, but good governance is an art and this needs to be known, he said. "We are preparing a list of 200 professionals whom we plan to get elected in assemblies," he said.
He said the situation of the country cannot be improved as long as common men do not get powers and for this institutions need to be strengthened. The PTI chairman said a country is governed through its institutions and weak institutions will only result in bad governance. He lamented that 400,000 children die each year by drinking impure water in Pakistan, while the rulers go abroad for their own treatment at the expense of the taxes paid by the people.
He said that several millions rupees of people are spent on the treatment of VIPs, but the conditions of the hospitals in the country is in such a bad shape, that no one can get proper medical facilities. Khan said that none of the parliamentarians spoke a single word in favour of common people, during the joint session of the Parliament which lasted for several days. He said that people feel independent when they make their own decisions. Criticising the PML-N and PPP leadership, he said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari do not pay taxes, while currently every single Pakistani owes a debt of Rs 88,000. Imran said the Nawaz-government is getting more loans, in order to pay the interest of previous debts.
