Pakistan and China have agreed to follow the timeline and speed up work on the projects to complete them at the earliest. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Ahsan Iqbal said this while briefing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif about the recent visit of a delegation to China headed by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Nawaz chaired the meeting to review the progress on the projects under the Pak China Economic Corridor at Prime Minister House on Friday. The Punjab Chief Minister said the Chinese collaboration in the development projects is a catalyst in expediting the process of development.
While briefing the Prime Minister, Ahsan Iqbal said we would try our level best to complete the Pak-China Economic Corridor projects in the span of 3 years that includes Port Qasim Power Plant of 660 MW, Coal-fired Power Plant of 1,260 MW in Sahiwal, Wind Power Project of 250 MW in Gharo and 660 MW coal-fired project in Thar.
The Prime Minister was also informed that timely review and time line matrix of the respective projects have been formulated. While discussing the Gaddani Power Project, the Prime Minister directed the authorities to expedite work on Jetty at Gaddani on priority basis. "These projects will end loadshedding in Pakistan and bring new industries in the country. China is an earnest trading partner of Pakistan and her co-operation would yield economic benefits," the Prime Minister said.
The meeting was also attended by Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance, Khawaja Asif, Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Minister for Railways, Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab, Tariq Fatemi, SAPM on Foreign Affairs, Mrs Nargis Sethi, Secretary Water & Power, Hassan Nawaz Tarar, Secretary Planning, Saleem Sethi, Secretary EAD and Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad, Secretary Communication.
