Lahore College Women University students have triumphed in the Pakistan final of the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) 2014 Global Business Challenge, held in partnership with Barclays. SIMZ will now represent Pakistan at the global final in Mumbai, India, on August 4-7. The 2014 CIMA GBC is an international business management competition designed to showcase the very best in the next generation of business leaders.
To reach the final students analysed a real life CIMA business scenario and presented innovative solutions. This year, over 240 teams in Pakistan registered for the 2014 CIMA GBC. SIMZ from Lahore College Women University competed against the best teams in the country at the national final to become Pakistan champions and secure a place at the global final. The teams were judged on their business acumen, presentation skills and ability to respond to the judges' questions.
The team won cash prize of Rs 60,000 and three weeks of Summer School programme by the country partner London School of Business and Finance, as well as a chance to pit their business skills against students from around the world at the global final. Team Zeal from Institute of Business Administration was announced as the runner-up team and their team member Insiya Murtaza was declared the Best Speaker. Team Jordan from Nust University was declared as the winner for the Best Presentation.
The panel of judges consisted of eminent business leaders such as Bradley Emerson, Regional Director Middle East and South Asia and North Africa at Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Atif Saeed Dar, Country CFO at Barclays Bank PLC Pakistan, Faisal Azeem, Regional Director at London School of Business and Finance and Mehmood Arshad, Executive Vice President at Pak Qatar Takaful.-PR
