Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Punjab government has prepared a mega project for providing potable water to the masses and a sum of five billion rupees has been allocated in the new budget for Saaf Pani Project. He said that provision of clean drinking water is essential to protect the people from diseases and therefore, the government has set the target to supply clean water to the citizens throughout the province during next four years.
He was talking to the President of ENTA, an international company associated with clean drinking water and water treatment, Uzi Sezer. The Chief Minister said that government is implementing a comprehensive programme of provision of clean water to the people and in its first phase, water filtration plants are being set up in various parts of the province while supply of potable water will be ensured to every citizen during next four years.
Shahbaz Sharif said that installation of modern plants for the treatment of toxic industrial water is essential and co-operation of a Turkish international company in this regard and provision of drinking water to the people will be welcomed. He said that provision of clean water to the citizens is the responsibility of the state and a target has been fixed to supply potable water to every citizen.
He said that Saaf Pani Project is of utmost importance as it is directly related with human health. He said that the Turkish company can also cooperate in treatment of industrial effluents. Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Planning & Development, concerned secretaries, DG LDA and senior officers of Punjab Saaf Pani Company were also present on the occasion.
